Multan Sultans join hands with US Open

Karachi: The oldest cricket tournament in the United States of America, US Open will have a complete Pakistani outfit this time around as a Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Multan Sultans decided to field their team in the competition, scheduled to begin from December 18th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Talking to this correspondent, the owner of Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen said their aim is to provide exposure to young players.

“Last year we took a team to England for a tournament and this year we are taking them to the USA. We have heard great things about the US Open and the work being done by the CEO of the event, MAQ Qureshi to promote cricket there”, Ali Tareen said.

“We hope to give some of our emerging players a platform to show the world their talent. It’s not about Multan Sultans or South Punjab only because we are taking onboard young players from all over Pakistan”, Ali Tareen added.

Meanwhile CEO and founder of US Open, MAQ Qureshi, who is also the chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA), said that in partnership with Multan Sultans, the CCUSA continues to promote Cricket in the USA.

“The partnership will also strengthen relationship between Pakistan and the USA. It is an exciting beginning”, Qureshi said

“They are a successful team in the PSL and their presence at this tournament will add a lot in terms of quality,” Qureshi added.

The US Open is an yearly event being staged regularly since 2008. A number of Pakistani players take part in the tournament by featuring in different participating teams.
