Beware of Afghanistan in WC: Kabir Khan

May 27, 2019 | By

KARACHI: The former head coach and one of the main architects of Afghanistan Cricket, Kabir Khan has warned the teams in the World Cup to be vigilant against Afghanistan. He believes they (men in blue) could upset settled teams in the mega event.

Talking to this correspondent, after Pakistan lost to Afghanistan in the practice game, the former Pakistan Test fast bowler was of the opinion that Afghanistan’s combination was apt with all bases covered.

“The pitch was holding the ball that favoured Afghanistan due to their formidable spin-bowling department. Restricting Pakistan to that total was a big achievement for them. Then their batting performed sensibly as well. The plan was evident with the onslaught in the beginning followed by steadiness. They have depth in their batting too”, said Kabir Khan

Kabir feels the win against Pakistan will immensely boost Afghanistan’s confidence.

“It’s one of Afghanistan’s dreams to beat India and Pakistan at the world stage. Although it was the practice game but they will take this triumph as a great achievement”, Kabir Khan added

“Playing as a unit makes them a dangerous team. I won’t be surprised if they upset big teams in the World Cup”, former Afghanistan head coach concluded
