Afridi terms MCC membership honour

Karachi: Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Khan Afridi has been awarded the honorary life membership of the MCC.

The flamboyant all-rounder is the third Pakistan players, after Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, to be included in the prestigious list this year.

Shahid Afridi retired from the game with 8,064 ODI, 1716 Test and 1218 T20I runs. He has 395, 48 and 97 wickets in three formats respectively.

Shahid Afridi, while talking to this correspondent, has termed the membership an honour.

“Such honours bring a sense of great satisfaction because your country’s name is also recognised”, Shahid Afridi said.

“MCC membership and the recognition in Houston are remarkable moments of my life”,  Afridi added.

In 2014, the Mayor of Port Arthur, Texas declared February 5th, “Shahid Afridi Day”

Shahid Afridi is the 35th Paki­stani to have received this honour
