Veteran Younis Khan said Pakistan batsmen have prepared well and will be ready for England when the first Test begins at Lord’s in London a week from Thursday.

Younis stroked a confident 99 not out in Pakistan’s impressive 324-5 on the first day of their three-day tour game against Somerset at Taunton. Younis added an invaluable 179 for the fifth wicket with Asad Shafiq. Opener Shan Masood made 62 but skipper Misbah-ul-Haq went for a second-ball duck.

Younis admitted teams struggle in England.

“Not only Pakistan, any team which tours England struggle in batting. We know it’s not easy for us but as a batting unit we are ready.”

Younis praised the tuning camps in Pakistan and Hampshire.

“The way the PCB conducted these camps and it helped the team management, the coaching staff and batsmen have benefited. The Army camp was motivational where we were pushed for fitness and that also helped a great deal.”
