Multan: The home side, Multan Sultans, are in no mood to bog down in this season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as they registered another victory by rolling over Karachi Kings here on Friday.
Batting first, on Karachi Kings’ invitation, Multan Sultans’ openers Moeen Ali and Zeeshan Ashraf started off briskly. After the departure of Zeeshan Ashraf (23 off 13) in the 5th over captain Shan Masood established a solid 71-run stand with Mooen who made an impressive 65 off 42 with 4 fours and as many sixes. Shan held one end till the 18th over to help his side reaching 186/6 in the end. The captain stroked 7 fours and a six for his 42-ball 61. For Kings, Jordan and Amir bagged two wickets each. Surprisingly Kings’ skipper didn’t let left-arm spinner Umar Khan to bowl a single over.
Chasing the stiff ask, Kings were rattled at the beginning when first Moeen trapped Sharjeel Khan (16 off 9) and soon after Mohammad Irfan claimed the prized wicket of Babar Azam (13 off 12).
Karachi’s top scorer Alex Hales, with his 23, exhibited some resistance however tight bowling and immaculate fielding from Multan never let Karachi recover from the early blows.
Imran Tahir was clinical with 3 for 28 in 3 overs while Sohail Tanvir and Shahid Afridi claimed a wicket each.
Karachi Kings got bundled out for 134 runs in 17 overs.
Moeen Ali, who took a wicket as well, was declared man of the match.
