Law says “no” to Pakistan coaching

May 4, 2016 | By

It seems Pakistan’s search for head coach will not end soon as Australian Stuart Law regretted Pakistan Cricket Board approach, telling them that he was interested only as consultant and that too after September, leaving the race to Mickey Arthur and Andy Moles.

That means after Tom Moody, Andy Flower, Justin Langer, Paddy Upton and Peter Moores, Law is another high profile coach to say “no” to the job regarded as the toughest in international cricket.

“Law is not available for Pakistan’s most important tour of England as he is committed as batting coach of the Australia for the tour of Sri Lanka between July to September,” said a source in the PCB.

“That left the race to Mickey Arthur of South Africa, Andy Moles of England and Dean Jones of Australia,” said the source. “Since some of Governing Board members are against Jones, it is likely that the next coach might be from one of the two others.”

Pakistan has a history of sacking their coaches. Their last coach Waqar Younis was forced to resign after a disastrous World Twenty20 where Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals.

Former UAE coach Aqib Javed, regarded as one of the best Pakistani coaches, did not apply after sensing that PCB wants a foreigner and have decided before the application process.

Another fast bowler of the past Mohammad Akram is top on the home candidates and in case no foreigners is roped in, Akram will be the new coach.
