Sri Lanka Cricket Awards Lankan Premier League Rights to Dubai based IPG Group

Karachi: The franchises based T20 tournament has already been announced to begin from August 28th and as a major step further the host, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has awarded the Lanka Premier Leagues’ rights to IPG group (UAE & Pakistan).

The awarded rights include Franchise Ownership Rights, Global Broadcasting & Media Rights, On Ground Sponsorship and Event Production Rights.

The IPG will also be partnering with Sri Lanka Cricket on Ground Operations of the event.

The Sri Lanka cricket floated an RFP for the sale of rights in the month of July and more than 25 companies across the world had expressed their interest and afterwards the IPG emerged with the successful bid for Rights.

The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is scheduled to be broadcast in more than 12 countries across the globe including Pakistan.

The Schedules & dates will be announced on the 15th of August, 2020.

Talking to this correspondent, the IPG Pakistan’s managing partner & CEO, Jawad Ghulam Rasool vowed to shape up a world class league.

“We at IPG believe in our vision of creating a world class league with LPL” mentioned Jawad Ghulam Rasool.

“With the global pandemic, we take this as an opportunity to bring back the spirit of sports to cricket fans all over the world”, Rasool added.

Jawad Ghulam Rasool is best known for spear-heading the T10 League, UAE into its first season as the CEO. He later moved on to take over as the CEO of the PAKTOON TEAM and then the CEO of THE SINDHI TEAM in season 2.
