Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has seemingly built a strong case against Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan however the family source of Sharjeel Khan sounded equally confident and said that the stain of spot-fixing would be washed off come what may.

“Career of Sharjeel Khan is not the priority at the moment. Our focus is to clear his name in this scandal. He did nothing wrong but the name has already been tarnished big-time”, a family source told this correspondent

Pakistan Cricket Board, on February 10, provisionally suspended Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan for meeting with an alleged bookmaker during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the United Arab Emirates.

The duo was part of the defending champion outfit, Islamabad United.

“Both Sharjeel and Khalid were literally grilled and pressurised for two days to admit their involvement in the fixing scandal”, the sources added

“Cricket is the bread and butter for Sharjeel but honestly this is now the matter of prestige. We will go all out to clear Sharjeel’s name”, the source concluded

Both Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were given a detailed charge-sheet last week. They had 14 days to respond. The duo has indicated to fight their case.
