Sydney: Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell starred, but a groin injury to David Warner overshadowed the 51-run win that completed a 2-0 series victory over India.

On the back of another sublime century from Steve Smith and a couple of classic catches, Australia comprehensively sealed the three-match ODI Series but might have sustained a sizeable blow for the Test campaign to follow.

The sight of Test opener David Warner hobbling from the field early in India’s chase of Australia’s imposing 50-over total of 4-389 with what appeared to be a serious groin injury will have tempered any celebrations as his teammates await an update on its severity.

Steve Smith top scored with 104 off 64 balls as Australia posted a mammoth 389-runs total for India to chase in the second ODI. Aaron Finch and David Warner both scored half centuries, stitching a 142-run stand for the opening wicket. Labuschagne (70) and Glenn Maxwell (63) also contributed with respective fifty-plus scores.

In reply, India lost the game by 51 runs and thus the 3-match ODI series. For India, Virat Kohli played a brilliant knock of 89 runs before falling prey to Josh Hazlewood. KL Rahul also played a fine knock of 76 runs off 66 balls.

Earlier, Aussie captain Finch had won the toss and opted to bat first. Virat Kohli made no changes in his Playing XI. Australia were forced to make a change – injured Marcus Stoinis was replaced with Moises Henriques.
