SBP pin Agha Estate in thriller, Omar Associate punch PQA to reach final

Omar Associates and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have qualified for the final match of the Brighto presents Osaka Naya Nazimabad Ramzan Cup 2019 after beating Port Qasim Authority (PQA) and Agha Estate respectively. SBP overpowered Agha Estate, by 5 runs, in the last-ball thriller.

While batting in the first semi-final, PQA lost authority to Omar Associates by losing 3 wickets on 88. Captain Khurram Manzoor’s wicket caused the downfall and PQA lost half their side for 94. Omar Associates didn’t let them score freely and PQA managed 134/7. Khurram Manzoor was the top scorer with 47, Danyal Ahsan chipped in with 27. Leg-spinner Usman Qadir bagged 3 wickets.

In reply, captain Asad Shafiq perished early but Umar Akmal and Usman Khan didn’t spare the PQA bowlers and raced to the target in just 9.3 overs. Usman hammered 72 off 27 deliveries with 7 fours and 6 maximams. Umar Akmal’s 65 off 27 balls included 4 fours and 6 sixes. Usman Khan was declared man of the match.

In the second semi-final State Bank of Pakistan (SPB) were asked to bat but they failed to deposit enough runs into their account and ended up with 138/8 in 20 overs. Captain Saad Ali (28), Daniyal Rajput (28) and Asad Afridi (22) were the notable contributors. Muhammad Sarwar picked up 3, while Shorab Baloch and Waseem Qureshi got 2 wickets a piece.

In the seemingly easy run-chase, Agha Estate lost 2 quick wickets for 15 runs. Antum Naqvi and Usman Maya did the repair work by establishing a good partnership but Naqvi got out on 55 with 87 on the board to trigger a mini collapse with 109 for 5. Zeeshan Khan spanked a sixer in the 19th over followed by two back to back boundaries by Maya placed Agha Estate in toucing distance to victory however the last over by Taj Wali put the last nail in AG’s coffin. Wali had to defend just 9 runs and he immidiatialy dismissed Maya with a high caught & bowled. Agha Estate needed 7 runs off the last ball but they only managed a single to make way for SBP to march into the final of the Brighto presents Osaka Naya Nazimabad Ramzan Cup 2019. Taj Wali (2/19) was declared man of the match.

The final match of the Brighto presents Osaka Naya Nazimabad Ramzan Cup 2019 will be played between Omar Associates and State Bank of Pakistan.
